DJI Mobile 7P Testing — Real-World Stabilization & Creator Features
In this video I put the DJI Mobile 7P through its paces: walking shots, fast pans, low-angle “flashlight” moves, and a quick run-and-gun test. I also try ActiveTrack, gesture control, timelapse/hyperlapse, and switch between landscape/portrait to see how it handles short-form content.
If you’re a creator shooting on your phone, this should help you decide if the 7P is worth it for vlogs, product B-roll, and everyday filming.
What I test
Handheld vs gimbal stabilization (walking/jogging)
ActiveTrack follow tests (face & object)
Quick tilt/pan response + horizon hold
Low-light jitter control
Timelapse, hyperlapse, and motion lapse pathing
Vertical shooting for Shorts/Reels/TikTok
Setup, balance, and pack-down time
My phone & settings
Phone: Samsung S24 Ultra
Main cam 4K @ 30/60 fps (HDR on/off)
EIS off (when noted) to see pure gimbal performance
Pros (so far)
Smooth walking shots with minimal bounce
Fast re-center + convenient trigger shortcuts
Reliable subject tracking in busy backgrounds
Cons / watch-outs
Needs precise balance with heavier phones
Quick pans can still introduce minor warp if phone EIS is on
Vertical arm clearance is tight with some cases
Gear used
DJI Mobile 7P gimbal, Samsung S24 Ultra, simple clamp tripod, clip-on LED light, wireless mic.
