🎥 Title: How to Use BitLocker to Encrypt Your Windows Hard Drive and Protect Your PC from Hackers
Intro:
Hey everyone!
In this video, I’m going to show you how to protect your computer from hackers and unauthorized access using BitLocker — the built-in encryption tool in Windows.
With BitLocker, even if your device is lost or stolen, no one can access your files — not even with advanced tricks like the Sticky Keys exploit.
Let’s get started!
Step 1: What is BitLocker?
BitLocker is a full disk encryption feature that comes with Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.
It encrypts your entire drive, so even if someone boots from a USB or removes the hard drive and tries to access it — they won’t be able to see your data without the encryption key.
Step 2: Check if Your Device Supports BitLocker
Go to your Start menu, type:
nginx
CopyEdit
manage bitlocker
and press Enter.
If you see the BitLocker settings panel, your system supports it.
If you’re on Windows 10 Home, BitLocker won’t be available — but I’ll cover alternatives in another video.
Step 3: Turn On BitLocker
- In the BitLocker settings window, find your C: drive (or whichever drive you want to encrypt).
- Click “Turn on BitLocker.”
- BitLocker will check if your PC has a TPM chip (Trusted Platform Module). If not, it’ll ask you to allow BitLocker without TPM using a password or USB key.
Step 4: Choose How to Unlock the Drive
You’ll now be asked how you want to unlock the drive at startup:
- Password: Enter a strong password
- USB key: Plug in a USB to unlock the system
Choose the method that works best for you.
Step 5: Backup Your Recovery Key
This part is crucial.
You’ll be given a recovery key in case you forget your password.
You can:
- Save it to your Microsoft account
- Save it to a USB drive
- Save it as a file
- Print it out
Never skip this step. If you lose your password and recovery key, you lose access to your data forever.
Step 6: Choose What to Encrypt
You’ll have two options:
- Encrypt used disk space only (faster for new PCs)
- Encrypt entire drive (more secure, better for older PCs)
I recommend Encrypt entire drive.
Step 7: Choose Encryption Mode
- Choose New encryption mode if you’re using Windows 10 on this device only.
- Choose Compatible mode if you might move the drive to an older Windows version.
Step 8: Start Encrypting
Click “Start Encrypting” and wait. This can take time depending on your drive size.
Once complete, your drive is fully encrypted and protected.
How This Stops Hackers
Now if someone tries to bypass your login using the Sticky Keys exploit, boot from USB, or physically remove your hard drive —
they’ll only see encrypted data.
Without the BitLocker key, your files are unreadable.
Even professional data recovery tools can’t break BitLocker encryption.
Outro:
That’s it! You’ve now protected your PC with BitLocker encryption.
This is one of the most powerful ways to keep your data safe — especially if your laptop gets lost or stolen.
